Our Story
Born from a love of community, Kente Cones is where sweetness meets heritage connecting Africa to Brooklyn through ice cream. By blending African flavors with Afro-American pride, we share stories, culture, and connection in every scoop.
Kente Cones began as a pop-up ice cream experience during the pandemic, founded by Ashley Marrero alongside a close friend who shared the vision of creating high-quality frozen desserts that celebrate culture, heritage, and Black excellence.
In 2025, Ashley proudly carried that vision forward by opening the first Kente Cones brick-and-mortar shop in Brooklyn on Juneteenth — a milestone that symbolizes resilience, community, and cultural pride.
Today, Kente Cones continues to honor its roots while growing into a space where flavor, heritage, and education come together, one scoop at a time.
Pop-up Ice Cream Shop
We offer gourmet frozen desserts made with ingredients from Africa and beverages such as milkshakes, Ethiopian coffee and African herbal teas. We're also offering bakery items starting in October.

We also use Black-owned alcoholic brands for our alcohol-infused flavors such as D'usse, Deleon tequila, Black Girl Magic rose and more!
